About Us
The year 2016 is a special year for our congregation. It is a year of God’s “DIVINE INCREASE.” (Gen. 24:60, Gen. 26:13) This is our “rhema” for 2016 as a family. This is God’s specific word for the Emmanuel congregation in Lorton, Virginia in the year 2016. The phrase “Divine increase” is a combination of two very simple but powerful operational English words.
First of all, the word “Divine” means Godlike, heavenly, and excellent in the highest degree. It means extra-ordinary, apparently above what is human. Secondly, the word increase simply means to become greater in bulk or quantity, it means to grow, to augment, to become more in number or to advance in value or quality
It is obvious that Godlike or heavenly increase is a supernatural or extra-ordinary increase that is beyond human comprehension and unexplainable from human perspective.

Truly am talking about an increase from God who owns everything we desire pertaining to this life and godliness, I am talking about a holistic increase and not just material increase. Indeed, all things belong to God and God gives to those who truly and wholeheartedly love him.
Seriously speaking, God showed me an increase that comes as a results of;
-
A “TRUE AND SPIRITUAL WORSHIP. (Ps.67:5-6, Jn. 4:20-24)
-
An increase that comes as a results of “RIGHTEOUS LIVING” (Ps. 85:10-13)
-
An increase that come as a results of “FAITHFULNESS” (Ps. 115:9-15)
-
An increase that comes as a results of “WALKING WORTHY OF THE LORD” (Col. 1:1-10)
-
An increase that comes as a result of “DIVINE FAVOR” (Exo.1:7, Rom. 9:8)
-
An increase that comes as a result of “PERSEVERANCE” (Job 8:7, ICor.15:58, Heb. 10:35)
-
An increase that comes as a result of “DIVINE REVELATION” (Gen. 30:25-43, 11Cor. 3:17-18)
-
An increase that comes as a result of “OBEDIENCE” (Gen. 26:1-4)
-
An increase that comes as a result of “GIVING UNCOMMON OFFERING” (II Chro. 1:6-12, Lk. 6:38, )
-
An increase that comes as a result of “THANKSGIVING” (Jn. 6:1-3, Phip. 4:6-9,)
This is going to be our area of concentration and emphasis in the year 2016, as we delve deep in the word of God and inculcating into the hearts of our congregants the need to develop an intimate relationship with God, delving deep into the scriptures and availing themselves for the service of God by the enablement of the anointing of the holy spirit.
We believe that as our members develop a strong sense of spiritual discipline it will attract the “DIVINE INCREASE” in 2016
Jesus said in John 10:10 “…I’ve come to give life and to give it more abundantly”. That’s increase, no matter how you look at it. Biblically, increase is not limited to money but rather
includes health, material and spiritual blessings. God desires that we prosper spirit soul and body. Everyone loves to increase and God also wants his children to increase because;
-
He wants his children to be a blessing to others. We are made to be instruments of God through which his Divine favor can flow.
-
He wants his children to make God attractive to others. Throughout the word of God, there are examples of people who God empowered to prosper so that they show to the world what a magnificent God we serve.
-
He wants his children to finance the spread of the Gospel to fulfill the call of God on the Church. God wants to bless his convent people, Psalm 115:12-14 says “the Lord has been mindful of us; he will bless the house of Israel, he will bless the house of Aaron, He will bless those who fear the Lord, both small and great.
However, we need to rightly position ourselves to strategically provoke the manifestation of the blessings of Divine Increase.
Repositioning ourselves as a church for God’s divine provision and blessings begin with our right attitude, knowledge and application of the word of God (Josh. 1:8). That is why in the year 2016, all of our decisions, actions, and thoughts must be dictated by the principles of the word of GOD. This is why the ten (10) selected areas of increase mentioned above is very crucial for us all as a church. It is very important for us all if we really want to hit the divine increase level in the coming year.
As we enter into 2016, it is my fervent prayer that the good Lord who has promised us an increase in the coming year will increase you more and more, you and your children.
May you be blessed by the Lord who made heaven and earth.

CHURCH HISTORY
In response to the Great Commission of our Lord Jesus Christ, - Matt. 28: 19- 20, and reiterated by the General Assembly of the Presbyterian church of Ghana, a group of dedicated immigrants Presbyterian Christians in the United States of America, Virginia who were also members of Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) started the EPMC in the year 2004.
Led by Mr. Prince Kusi, the group intensified their search to win more souls for Christ who they intended to disciple as Ghanaian Presbyterian Christians. After due diligence and relentless feasibility studies of the area of Virginia where majority of the pioneering group members resided, the group observed that in the vast vicinity of their area of jurisdiction resides many other Ghanaian Presbyterian families who for the lack of Ghanaian Presbyterian Church, had join other denominations and others do not go to church at all. So the group decided and embarked on vigorous house to house evangelism. Giving this favorable outlook of the area, within a short period of time was able to mobilize members which eventually led to the establishment of a preaching post in 2004.
The group purchased musical instruments with members’ contribution and a special loan from Adom PCG. Later, a delegation from Adom PCG led by Mr. Samuel Boadi introduced EPMC to the PCG Overseas Mission Field (OMF) leaders in New York.
The group secured Springfield Estates Elementary School for Sunday church services and the first worship services was held on Sunday June 13th 2004. Approximately, 78 people, included twenty members from Adom PCG attended this first service and 35 individuals registered during the first service to become members of the church. This service attracted many Ghanaian immigrants and that resulted in the increase of church membership.
The EPMC attained full congregational status on 17th June, 2007. The inauguration ceremony was officiated by Rev. Dr. Charles Gyang-Duah, Chairperson of the OMF and was assisted by other leaders from the OMF. The inauguration was attended by Adom PCG Maryland, PCG Manhattan NY, PCG Bronx, and PCG Newark NJ. As a result of this inauguration, the EPMC became the 4th PCG congregation in United States of America.
On June 24, 2007, EPMC ended its services at Springfield Estates Elementary school by reason of a complaint by a nearby resident. On July 1, 2007 EPMC resumed church services at Lorton Station Elementary school which had been secured for that purpose by Mr. Shadrack Addai Tawiah, a member of the church. After the inauguration, the church has been blessed by a number of visiting ministers including the then moderator RT. Rev. Dr. Frimpong Manso.
